Swatch Unveils an Alternate Square Case in Its BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? Collection
Each featuring a different ‘80s-inspired dial design.

Swatch has released its new BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? collection, featuring four references attired in square cases. The concept traces back to the watch brand’s early days when the founders were deliberating to go forward with a square or round-shaped watch design. In our current reality, they of course settled with the latter, which has since become the brand’s icon. But with the newly unveiled and aptly named collection, Swatch opens up an alternate reality where the square silhouetted prototype would have become its signature.
Arriving in green, gray, black, and beige, the BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? watches are presented in 33mm x 33mm matted-finished cases, all crafted in a bioceramic material. All are equipped with a lume-filled handset and a 3 o’clock day-date display, but what set sets each variant apart – aside from its color – are the different ‘80s-inspired dial designs they sport.
On each watch’s caseback are a printed battery cover depicting the original dial they were modeled from, serving as both a tribute and Easter egg to Swatch’s history. All variants are powered by quartz movements and paired with tonal straps composed of a bio-sourced material.
The BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? watches feature a price point of $110 USD, all currently available for pre-order via Swatch’s official website.
