sacai x 'Interstellar' FW23 Collaboration Has Officially Dropped
Intergalactic, Morse code and bookshelves motifs are at play.
Initially unveiled on the Paris Fashion Week FW23, sacai has now dropped the Interstellar collaboration for the upcoming season. The FW23 season saw sacai reveal a slew of collaborations including with Moncler, Nike and Carhartt WIP.
Portions of the collection were heavily inspired by Christopher Nolan‘s 2014, Interstellar film. As a nod to the sci-fi project, which is about the extinction of mankind becoming imminent and an ex-engineer and his journey into outer space, the blockbuster movies’ motifs served as key graphics for Chitose Abe‘s collection. Bringing together sacai’s seasonal hybridization and transformation codes, Abe focuses on three main references to the Nolan film. Specifically, the pieces feature the a Murph’s bookcase print, the morse code print and the anomaly print that featured Cooper’s line, “It was never meant to die here.
The references can be seen on the down jackets, bouses, pufer jackets, dresses, bomber jacket, sweaters, varsity jackets and knitwear just to name a few. In accessories, bucket hats and caps paid homage to the film as well. Ready fo the upcoming fall season, the collection is set to become available at sacai stores and online starting from July 14.
