UPDATE: Official Images of Michelle Wie West‘s Air Jordan 1 Golf “Wave” have surfaced. The kicks are treated with a “Sail” leather upper and come fashioned with a wave-inspired Swoosh logo with “Aloha” hits on the translucent outsoles and floral print across the insoles to honor her Hawaiian and Korean heritage. A release for these kicks is set for July 18, and they will retail for $200 USD.

Michelle Wie West is playing the final pro tournament of her career this week at the U.S. Women’s Open, and Jordan Brand has prepared a limited edition AJ1 G “Wave” to celebrate her career and retirement.
Wie West first arrived on the scene in 2003 when she became the youngest player (age 13) to ever make a cut on the LPGA Tour. Always hungry for more, she accepted a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Sony Open in her native Hawaii where she shot the lowest score ever by a woman in a PGA TOUR event. Over the course of her 17 year career, she went from teenage sensation, to major championship winner to a working mother in golf. To honor these achievements, the limited edition kicks reference the “Waves” that Wie West made in professional golf and sport as a whole.
The “Wave” element is most prominent on the Swooshes, while the high top profile of the Jordan 1 is appropriate for Wie West given her affinity for those silhouettes throughout her career. The kicks feature a number of personal touches, including Wie West’s daughter’s initials on the right tongue tab and the word “Mom” in Korean on the left. Elsewhere, a removable ball marker attached to the laces reads “Just Do It” in English and Korean and “Aloha” hits on the outsoles, referencing the golfer’s Korean and Hawaiian heritage.
