Studio Nicholson FW23 Takes Us to '80s New York City
Creating sleek uniforms charged against NYC’s concrete jungle.
British imprint Studio Nicholson is expanding its simplistic design language across international borders, seeing its practical identity promoted in London and Tokyo. While Studio Nicholson’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection envisioned Giorgio Armani‘s American attitude, this season travels to 1980s New York City.
Fall/Winter 2023 celebrates Nick Wakeman‘s relaxed approach to design, emulated across a practical wardrobe — equally athletic and refined. Academic uniforms receive a fearless city approach, flavored in “Teak,” “Tapenade,” “Oak,” and “Black Olive” hues.
Utilitarian shirting is designed with midway chest zippers and a functional feel, accompanied by oversized pockets and matching lightweight trousers. Linen ensembles follow, charging against NYC’s concrete jungle. Staple trench coats, suiting, and Canadian tuxedos emulate vital city gear, while womenswear previews draped blouses and sophisticated knitwear.
