Back in 1953, Chevrolet put its first Corvette into production and since then, the model has established itself as one of America’s most notable cars. Throughout its seventy year run, the Corvette has maintained its status as a symbol of automotive excellence, with countless years of the model cherished to this day. One in particular that has stood the test of time is 1961’s Corvette. Shifting the design language of the series, the 1961 Corvette brought forth the iconic “ducktail” rear with tailfins and four taillights.

Now, LEGO and its Icons franchise celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Corvette with a striking-red 1961 Corvette set. Constructed with the use of 1,210 pieces, the build features key details from the model such as its hard or open-top configuration options. An opening hood and trunk reveal the car’s internal components while working steering ensures that it can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.

Release for the LEGO Icons Corvette set begins on August 1 for LEGO VIPs, the brand’s free rewards program, via LEGO at a price of $150 USD. Following this, a general release is scheduled for August 4.
