Nike's New Aerogami Technology Is Designed to Keep You Cooler
The material utilizes moisture-reactive vents that autonomously open and close once it detects sweat.
Designers at Nike are constantly researching to understand the needs of the athletes it serves to innovate the highest-performing apparel and footwear products. Regarding performance apparel, we’ve seen the brand introduce various technologies such as Dri-Fit, Pro, Sphere, Storm-Fit, Therma-Fit and more into its arsenal, and now it has just introduced its newest creation: Aerogami.
By the Swoosh’s definition, Aerogami is a venting system that autonomously adapts to your needs, creating more-breathable performance gear with on-demand ventilation. Once it detects sweat, its moisture-reactive vents autonomously open and close to keep you cooler during your high-intensity workouts. The first product to debut the Beaverton brand’s latest innovation is the Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket which is engineered to regulate your body temperature and ventilation while you get your miles in.
“Aerogami is our latest example of Nike’s culture of innovation focused on solving the timeless needs of runners,” says Jahan Behbahany, Senior Apparel Innovation Product Manager in Nike’s Advanced Innovation Collective. “We know feeling too warm, uncomfortable and distracted while wearing a running jacket is a common challenge many runners face, so we’ve obsessed developing an innovative solution that gives them increased breathability without compromising style and protection. What’s great about this technology is not only can the athlete feel the benefit, but they can also see it.”
The women’s Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket is slated to drop in July 2023 via nike.com and at select retailers while the men’s jacket will launch later this fall.
