Even after 50 years, Jil Sander remains one of fashion’s strongholds of minimal, yet elegant designs. Now the brand has revealed its new Resort 2024 menswear collection, which questions the parameters of an elegantly dressed man.

Under the direction of Luke and Lucie Meier, the vision of Jil Sander has grown to harbor a modern sensibility fused with romantic touches – all while retaining the German brand’s minimalist core. For Resort 2024, the two creative directors are taking a closer look at what elegance means and can be for menswear. “I don’t think that if menswear is going to be elegant it has to be tailoring,” the duo told Vogue Runway.

As such, the collection came to be through an arsenal of styles that only used tailoring as a touchstone. The real magic came to be through relaxed silhouettes, sharp yet meandering lines, varying proportions and versatile fabrications. Knitwear served as a collection highlight with cable knit v-neck sweaters, vests and oversized jumpers – coming alive in soft beige, vibrant fuchsia and more. Where tailoring found its niche was through structured blazers, oversized pants and an arsenal of captivating coats.

Whether it be a deep turquoise structured asymmetrical blazer, crocodile-embossed leather pants or a draped top, it was clear that the new wardrobe exalts modern sensibilities as premier elegance. Finishing off the offering was a range of leather bags and knee-high leather boots.
