Next week, all eyes are on Apple as the company holds its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where it is expected to unveil a suite of new products. In the lead-up to the event, Apple is continuing to run tests on “high-end Macs” with both M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The M2 Max was designed to replace the M2, making its debut in January in the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, the only devices to contain the newer version of the processor. The M1 Ultra is currently the most powerful chip available for the standard Mac line, as the M2 Ultra hasn’t officially launched just yet.

Gurman predicts that Apple is working on desktop computers designed for professional use from home, which would seemingly target those who have transitioned to working from home.

The rumored new Mac that would run on the M2 Max would offer 8 high-performance cores, 4 efficiency cores and 30 graphics cores, along with 96 GB of storage.

The M2 Ultra, however, would be comparably more powerful with double the amount of cores across the board and the option to upgrade to a version with 76 graphics cores, according to Gurman.

While Apple is expected to unveil two Mac Pros in addition to the high-end desktops, the industry will have to wait until WWDC on June 5 to find out for sure.

In other tech news, Twitter is now only worth one-third of the price Elon Musk and investors paid for it in 2022.
