Porsche Design Unveils Its Exclusive Chronograph 718 Spyder RS
Only for owners of the new 718 Spyder RS convertible roadster.
In tandem with the unveiling of Porsche’s 718 Spyder RS along with its Weissach package iteration, Porsche Design has dedicated a matching chronograph exclusively for buyers of the new convertible vehicle.
Handcrafted in Porsche’s own horology manufacture, the 718 Spyder RS watch features a lightweight titanium case and a performance-centric design, complete with sporty totalizers, as well as Racing Yellow hour and minute hands. While the scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal offer optimal legibility from every angle, its ceramic hour and minute indices are treated with Super-LumiNova® for added readability in dark environments. Available in a tachymeter or a minute dial version, the bezel also echoes the look and feel of its automotive counterpart.
As a timepiece that’s designed for an extraordinary car, Porsche Design’s Chronograph 718 Spyder RS is surely not an everyday watch. Viewable from its open caseback, the time-teller houses a rotor that harks back to the roadster’s signature wheel. In terms of movement, the chronograph operates on the WERK 01.200, which is a COSC-certified in-house calibre with a flyback function.
The Porsche Design Chronograph 718 Spyder RS is now available for purchase with a starting price of $8,800 USD upon purchase of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS car with or without the Weissach package. Accompanying every timepiece is a uniquely numbered plaque, all packaged in a premium watch box. More details regarding color options and other customizations can be explored via the brand’s online timepiece configurator.
Elsewhere in watches, Sotheby’s to auction newly-discovered Patek Philippe “Pink-on-Pink” 1518 timepiece.
