According to a report, HBO‘s hit The Last of Us adaptation is the latest series to be affected by the ongoing labor dispute. The report notes that casting for the second season of the series was still happening until last week. Sources note the casting team was asking actors to read from dialogue taken directly from The Last of Us Part II video game and that the crew hopes to begin shooting early 2024 if the Writers Guild of America strike ends in time.

It is interesting to note The Last of Usco-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin has been on the picket line supporting the Writers Guild of America. In solidarity, co-creator Neil Druckmann, who served as both writer and creative director on the games, is also not working on Season 2 of the show in any capacity at the moment.

Stay tuned for more news regarding the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.
