Nike Unveils Its Air Max Penny 1 “Lester Middle School” Colorway

Penny Hardaway‘s signature line with Nike has been moving at full steam within the last year thanks to its strong output of inline colorways and striking collaborations with the likes of streetwear stalwarts like Social Status and Stüssy. And now this season, the NBA legend is looking to expand the arsenal of his Nike Air Max Penny 1 line by introducing a new colorway that’s inspired by his Lester Middle School — his alma mater where he coached the basketball team in 2012.

School pride is exhibited through its color palette that draws inspiration from the Lester Lions’ signature colors. A majority of the kicks are covered in a solid black hue such as the suede toe boxes, collars and heels. Bright yellow accents fill in the jeweled Swooshes, interior liners, stripes on the heel’s pull tabs and the Penny insignias that are planted on the lower heel. Dimensional overlays that start at the forefoot and extend to the quarter are done up in white for extra contrast.
