Hyundai N Vision 74 Concept Is Reportedly Headed to Production
As the new “Pony Coupe.”
Last July, Hyundai premiered its N Vision 74 concept car under its high-performance N sublabel. Described as a “rolling lab” at the time, the ’80s-inspired car of the future was made to demonstrate the automaker’s commitment to zero-emission technologies. Nearly a year later, reports now surface that the N Vision 74 is heading to production.
Moreover, the sports model will reportedly adopt the historic Pony Coupe moniker, paying homage to the original 1974 two-door pictured above which was credited for kick-starting the Korean car industry and influencing the design for the legendary DeLorean DMC 12.
Fabrizio Guigiaro, the son of legendary automotive designer Giorgetto Guigiaro who was responsible for creating the original Pony model, is said to be leading the design of the production car. It’s currently unclear whether the hydrogen hybrid power system from the N Vision 74 concept will stay, or if the automaker will opt for a more conventional powertrain.
The new Pony Coupe is set to debut on “Pony Day,” May 27 in Seoul. Stay tuned for more details.
