After releasing in “Hyper Blue” and a light photography-inspired colorway, the Nike Air Max Plus is now set to return in a colorway reminiscent of Spider-Man’s infamous red and blue suit. First introduced by Sean McDowell in 1998, the Air Max Plus has continued to serve as one of Nike‘s most popular lifestyle silhouettes.

While Marvel isn’t officially involved, the upcoming pairs arrive in black uppers with a red plastic exoskeleton highlighted by deep blue gradients. The plastic molds are said to be inspired by palm trees while the shank that divides the front and back of the Air units echoes the form of a whale’s tail. Other design highlights include white lateral Swooshes that are slimmer and longer than the regular logo, as McDowell freestyled the design when drawing up the shoe. Rounding out the design is a thick padded leather tongue fixed with a hexagonal Nike Air logo and “Tuned Air” emblems across the heel counter and bottoms.

Take a first look at the upcoming Nike Air Max Plus above and stay tuned for release details.
