Bloomberg‘s Apple insider Mark Gurman has revealed details of the tech company’s upcoming AR/VR headset. According to Gurman, the headset is expected to be revealed at WWDC in June.

While the unveiling of the headset appears to be set in stone, Gurman also revealed that the headset will feature two ports — a USB-C port for data transfer, as well as a proprietary magnetic port for the attachable external battery pack. The headset, which appears to feature its own battery, is expected to provide two hours of battery life. With its own external battery pack, the headset is to be lighter, improving comfort and function for the wearer.

However, the downside to having its own battery is that there will be a wire that trails out of the headset during use. The user is expected to carry around the battery pack in a pocket or by hand. Those who will presume to be hardcore Apple headset users would have to carry multiple battery packs on their person for longer AR or VR sessions. Gurman notes that the battery pack and the cable come as one piece and are not separable. The round-tipped cable supposedly attaches to the magnetic port of the headset and locks into place and is secured even with movement. The latest rumor labels the headset to be a premium device, including two 4K displays (one for each eye) and dozens of sensors and cameras. The device will also feature fine-grained hand gestures and eye tracking and is expected powered by an M2 chip. The products is also expected to retail for around $3000 USD.
