British girl band FLO has just released a brand new single, called “Fly Girl,” teaming up with R&B royalty Missy Elliott to deliver one of the most exciting feel-good anthems of the year so far.
FLO has had a whirlwind start to its career. After launching its debut single “Cardboard Box, just short of a year ago, the group then released its debut project in the summer of 2022. Titled The Lead, the 5-track E.P. went on to pick up over 70 million streams and Gold status and also brought a Best Newcomer nomination at the MOBO Awards and the BRITs Rising Star Award.
Now, the English trio — made of Renée Downer, Stella Quaresma, and Jorja Douglas — has released a new old-school R&B single with Missy Elliott. “”Fly Girl” is all about confidence, good vibes, and feeling your best,” FLO said in a recent statement. “It’s a lively, feel-good song that still incorporates clever lyrics and fire vocals, if we do say so ourselves.”
The song also includes subtle references to Missy Elliott’s hit record “Work It” in the intro, while FLO also samples the record’s lyrics in the chorus. Additionally, the new single has also come with some visuals and they follow the band as they take on a high-energy party that’s full of female independence.
