When it comes to simplicity and functionality that bridges between American and Japanese design notes, there are few brands that do it better than New Balance Tokyo Design Studio. Launching in 2018, the label brings together American and Japanese team members to design a collection that utilizes Japan’s minimalistic nature with American silhouettes. For the upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 season, the collection’s capsule focuses on essentials, all while exploring the idea of gender neutrality.

The Tokyo Design Studio brings a new collection that fits diverse body types and gives the wearer the independence to style the pieces however they wish. With no definition between menswear and womenswear apparel, the unisex collection highlights comfortable and athletic silhouettes. The collection arrives in classic black and earth tones like tan brown and sage green.

A head-to-toe collection, the collection is highlighted by a range of heavyweight hoodies and crewnecks featuring the Tokyo Design Studio circular branding, which can also be seen on caps, and running and sweat-wicking shorts. T-shirts with all-over text branding are also available in the capsule. In addition to apparel, the collection includes two colorways of the New Balance Fresh Foam series which feature a thick and soft midsole, meant to increase stability and comfort for trail running. The shoe is equipped with a Vibram outsole for added gripping for outdoor trekking.

Look out for the collection arriving on March 31 at New Balance.

In other fashion news, PUMA connects with STAPLE for a collection inspired by pivotal Asian American social movements.
