Birkenstock 1774 Revamps Classic Silhouettes With Tonal Textiles

For its latest installment, Birkenstock 1774 lauds its deep roots in German craftsmanship with a forward-minded agenda, elevating its essentials with innovative design techniques. Named after Birkenstock’s founding year, 1774 looks to revamp the brand’s signature silhouettes with a contemporary look, considering color and fabrications at the fore.
This go-around, 1774 lines Birkenstock’s signature molded footbed with exquisite leather, calling back to the brand’s orthopedic beginnings with an elevated foundation. The label continues its evolution on the Sylt, Tokio and Arizo silhouettes while reimagining both the Florda and Mayari sandals for the first time.
Notably, the collection is crafted with specially-developed colors and raw materials, all of which were sourced in Europe. From the Florida’s three slender straps and the Arizona’s nappa leather to the Mayari’s triple-strap thong and the Sylt’s padded quilting, 1774 enlists punchy tones of bone, black and pink, along with a blue hue inspired by the imprint’s first insoles.
The first delivery from the collection will become available on the 1774 website, as well as in select global retailers, on March 20. The Arizona and Sylt will launch on May 4, and the Tokio will go up for sale on June 1.
