From his first popular New York imprint, Public School, to the newly minted anOnlyChild, Maxwell Osborne is continuing to showcase the multifaceted evolution of his design expertise. Just getting its start in September of 2021, anOnlyChild is still a relatively new name on the block, but after showing in both NYC and LA already, it is a name that is without question ringing bells. The latest from the label for the Fall/Winter 2023 season presents a womenswear-only offering. But even though menswear took the bench this season, Osborne still cast a wide-reaching net of winning looks.

Titled “It’s Mines,” the latest collection crafts its personality as an ode to survivors and underdogs. Regardless of the situation, these groups in particular seldom catch the light – residing in the shadow vision of those around them – unseen. But Osborne’s latest combats this sentiment by producing a delectable set of unmissable garments. A sculpturally-savvy attitude pervades the collection as oversized proportions take center stage, no matter the style. Outerwear serves an obvious provocateur with pieces like a refined black wool wrap coat with strong shoulders and a slightly-flayed construction, a deep merlot elongated bomber-style parka and a plush wallpaper floral coat.

Following closely behind is tailoring that takes form through a short-sleeved double-breasted suit in contrasting shades, sculptural hourglass-shaped double-breasted blazer dresses, black wide-led pleated trousers and airy silk pleated trousers. Even garments like a deep red ruched silk dress, a striped chiffon blouse and a gray coordinating set with structured gauchos and the top to match echo tailored sentiments.

Amongst the tapestry of well-crafted pieces is a clear focus on fusing durability and modernity. The pieces are meant to both live on their own and with each other – mixing and matching to find just the right assemblage of harmony – something that is ever-changing, yet unequivocally confident.
