Borussia Dortmund Has Unveiled a Limited-Edition Blackout Jersey

Borussia Dortmund and PUMA have presented a limited-edition blackout jersey — and the first team will be wearing the kit this weekend when the German side takes on Hertha Berlin.

The new jersey takes inspiration from the City of Dortmund and the coal and steel industries that fuelled the evolution of the Ruhr region in the 19th and 20th centuries. With this in mind, the new all-black kit leans into these industries, while its base also outlines an inlaid map of the city.

What’s more, is that the player names on the kit have been designed to look like steel and the customary Dortmund emblem and branding on the front of the kit have been coated in a smooth black tone.

This new Dortmund kit also follows up on the club’s blackout release in 2020 — a jersey that celebrated the club’s 100th anniversary — and the 90s-inspired retro strip that sold out in a matter of minutes on the Dortmund website last year.

You can take a closer look at the new jersey from Borussia Dortmund above and it is available now via the club’s official webstore.
