Mercedes-AMG Unveils New AMG CLE 53 Coupe
A wide body V6 that combines the “sportiness of the AMG C-Class and the elegance of the AMG E-Class.”
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a new entry point for its performance-driven vehicles, expressed through the all-new AMG CLE 53 Coupe, a model that it says blends the elegance of the AMG E-Class with the sportiness of the AMG C-Class.
At the heart of the CLE 53 Coupe is an enhanced 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine, equipped with turbocharging and an electric auxiliary compressor that delivers 443 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque — with an overboost function temporarily increases torque to 443 lb-ft. Adding to the engine’s prowess is a 48-volt integrated starter generator that adds 23 hp and 151 lb-ft, designed for smooth power delivery at lower speeds.
The AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system are designed to ensure that the power is efficiently transferred to the road. Some additional performance upgrades featured in the CLE 53 Coupe include optimized combustion chambers, new piston rings and an improved exhaust gas turbocharger. Additionally, the engine’s efficiency is enhanced, especially under full load, thanks to the second-generation integrated starter generator.
Mercedes-AMG’s CLE 53 Coupe also comes with looks to match its performance, with the front end featuring a long hood with power domes, a steeply sloping windshield and a long, sloping roofline towards the rear. The “shark nose” front section and precisely shaped hood add to its look, enhanced by the AMG-specific radiator grille and sharp LED headlights — optional DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with projection functions are also available.
The CLE 53 Coupe’s side profile is marked by flared fenders and standard 19-inch wheels, with 20-inch options available. As for the rear design, it’s equally impressive, featuring smooth surfaces, two-part LED taillights and round double-tailpipe trim accents.
Inside the cabin of the CLE 53 Coupe drivers will find a blend of luxury and updated tech, including a 12.3-inch digital driver display and an 11.9-inch central display. Additionally, ambient lighting and sporty integral seats provide both comfort and support, with multiple upholstery options, like Nappa leather available to spec. Adding to the dynamic driving experience is the AMG Performance steering wheel and configurable driver display.
At the time of writing, pricing and availability options have not yet been shared, however, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe is expected to come in a standard version as well as with an optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package. This package is said to include additional dynamic features and equipment, like the RACE drive program with Drift mode and active engine mounts.
