The primary 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition, used in the filming of The Wolf of Wall Street, is headed to auction. The sale will take place at the inaugural “On the Grid: The Abu Dhabi Auction,” on November 25, 2023, with curation by Bonhams Cars.

While two cars were used in Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street, the vehicle in question is the one that took on the brunt of the action, including Jordan Belfort‘s (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) Quaalude-fueled drive — which is quite obvious based on the extensive damage to the vehicle.

In the film, the 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, painted in a sleek Bianco Polo finish, emerged as a symbol of opulence and excess, a true-to-period detail that accentuated the era’s lavish debauchery on Wall Street.

Notably, the car starred alongside DiCaprio for a memorable 3 minutes and 11 seconds, playing a significant role in one of the film’s most iconic scenes. In this scene, a Quaalude-impaired Belfort desperately crawls towards the car and struggles to pry open its scissor doors but eventually kicks them open, pulls himself inside and we all know what happens next.

Since its debut, the car has been meticulously preserved in its “as-filmed” condition and as part of the upcoming auction is bundled with an exclusive collector’s package. This includes an original cast wardrobe and signed props, a Jordan Belfort costume, a director’s chair and clapboard signed by Scorsese, DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, two crew hoodies and two DVDs of the film, along with certificates of authenticity.

Bonhams has set the estimate for The Wolf of Wall Street Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition Hero Car at $1.5 to $2 million USD, with bidding to commence on November 25. Interested bidders can learn more about the lot via the auction house’s official site.

In related news, RM Sotheby’s to auction the second Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition used in The Wolf of Wall Street.
