New 'Wonka' Trailer Sees Timothée Chalamet Get a Helping Hand From Oompa Loompa Hugh Grant
Arriving in theaters this December.
Following the official debut of its first clips at CinemaCon last year, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Paul King’s Wonka in anticipation of the upcoming release date. The trailer gives fans a better glimpse of what to expect from the prequel to Roald Dahl‘s iconic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular Willy Wonka as the story follows the candymaker’s origins.
Previously, Chalamet spoke to Vogue about why he took the role. He said, “To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy. That’s why I was drawn to it. In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate.” The new trailer gives audiences a chance to see Hugh Grant take on a bigger role as Wonka’s Oompa Loompa sidekick. Grant plays the “something of a whopper” Oompa Loompa named Lofy.
Other cast members include Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Davis, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Peter Joseph, Rich Fulcher, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Rahkee Thakrar, Ellie White, Murray McArthur and Tracy Ifeachor. Wonka hits theaters on December 15. Watch the newest trailer above.
