Up There and ASICS Connect for a Kookaburra-Themed GEL-LYTE III
In continuation of the Australian retailer’s partnership with the Japanese sportswear brand.
Australian retailer Up There has established a partnership with Japanese sportswear brand ASICS, introducing shoes such as last year’s floral take on the ASICS GT-II. In continuation of this, the duo has produced another footwear project, paying homage to the kookaburra, a class of bird native to Australia and New Guinea, by utilizing the GEL-LYTE III.
Known for its laugh, the kookaburra informs the shoe’s design as a premium arrangement of mesh and cuts of suede comprise the colorful upper. Off-white turns to brown as you go from the toe to the heel of the shoe with stripe and splatter patterns located at the midfoot. A bright blue found on the bird hits the lateral branding, patterned rope laces and the rubber outsole while a white and off-white midsole rounds things out.
For those interested in picking up a pair of this kookaburra-themed Up There x ASICS GEL-LYTE III, a raffle has begun via Up There’s website and runs until October 27 with the shoe priced at $150 USD. Following the raffle, a global release via ASICS and select retailers is expected to go down on November 4.
