Kevin Abstract Lets Go of His Past Self on New Single “Running Out”
His third studio LP ‘Blanket’ drops next week.
Kevin Abstract has shared another track leading up to the release of his third studio album Blanket. The new song is called “Running Out” and sees the artist continue to lean into his rock era.
Compared to the more noisy, heavy rock approach of his other recent releases, “Running Out” plays into a laid-back style of indie rock. On the song, Abstract muses about running letting go of a certain version of himself, perhaps the version the world came to know as the frontman of Brockhampton.
“I had a lot of reservations / Saw God in my creations / I ain’t recognize my graduation,” he sings.
“Running Out” follows the previously released “What Should I Do?,” as well as the album’s title track “Blanket.” For the single, Abstract enlisted fellow Brockhampton member Romil Hemnani, along with Jonah Abraham, John Carroll Kirby and Carlton McDowell.
