How Long Gone, the hit “bi-coastal elite” podcast hosted by Chris Black and Jason Stewart, has just presented a collection of limited-edition tote bags and pouches in collaboration with revered small-batch tote bag brand, Pacific Tote Company.

Started in 2012 by Roman Coppola and The Directors Bureau Special Projects. Pacific Tote Company has created bags designed for everyday life, using the finest heavy-duty canvas available. Having worked with the likes of Beams, Alexa Chung, Martha Stewart, and D.S. + Durga on collections in the past, its latest collab with How Long Gone is rooted in its native California.

The collaboration starts with the Big Sur Tote, designed with a zipper closure, heavy canvas, and stitched detailing. Its blue and green colorway aligns with How Long Gone’s trademark colours and Pacific Tote Company’s own love for bright hues. Designed for everyday use, The Big Sur Tote arrives in cobalt blue with a green strap, with a low-key How Long Gone x Pacific Tote Company co-branded motif in the center.

Photographer Cobey Arner captured the new collection with friend of the pod, Emma Burke, a librarian at her high school, Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy in Bed Stuy.

Speaking about the collaboration in conversation with Hypebeast, Chris Black said: “I think it’s so important for young people to, get out of their own heads and off their phones and into kind of a different world. We wanted to make a tote for and celebrate its original use – for books.”

Jason Stewart added, “We want to make totes books again,” to which Chris replied, “That’s exactly what I’m saying. Bookstores are places where I spend a lot of money and a lot of time – I think that experience cannot be replicated online in any way, and people need to be reminded of them in any way possible.”

The collection’s corresponding pouch bag is hit with a bold blue foundation with a green zipper. Custom-fit for How Long Gone purpose, the pieces are designed to carry “Podcasting equipment, cigarettes, pens, and pencils,” as per Pacific Tote Company, while it’s also dubbed as the “perfect size for an iPad”, making it perfect for on-the-go use for all you digital nomads out there.
