Louis Vuitton SS24 Took Pattern-Heavy City Uniforms to the Runway
From Pharrell Williams to Zendaya, guests feasted their eyes on a Y2K-inspired collection grounded in mismatched graphics and dramatic layering.
Nicolas Ghesquière has shaped Louis Vuitton womenswear for over a decade, expressing his clean-cut design language across refined silhouettes that never skimp on creativity. For Spring/Summer 2024, Louis Vuitton collaborated with James Chinlund to create an immersive show venue that mimicked a hot air balloon inside and out.
The pyramid-shaped seating arrangements were draped in orange plastic, christened by House ambassadors including Jaden Smith, Zendaya, and menswear Creative Director Pharrell Williams. Striking soundtracks by French musician Zaho de Sagazan boomed through every corner, seeing Ghesquière bring city uniforms to the runway.
The designer paired leather bomber jackets with ruffled skirts and ’00s-inspired chunky belts in black and monogrammed leather. Linear graphics collided on layered bottoms and buttonless shirting, while textured corsets and puffed tops arrived in muted tones. Double-breasted outerwear was crafted in diverse and glossy textiles, completing the collection with distorted houndstooth, bedazzled accessories, and skewed footwear.
