Nike Shows Valentine's Love with the Dunk Low "Yellow Heart"

The official sneaker of the friend zone.

Valentine’s Day is for lovers, and Valentine’s Day sneakers usually are too. Most V-Day drops have an air of schoolyard romanticism to them thanks to their ornamentation — think bright pink or red tones and large heart graphics. Nike has shoes that fit that billing dropping this year, but they’ve also served up a much more platonic design: the Dunk Low “Yellow Heart,” or the official sneaker of the friend zone.

The “Yellow Heart” is largely devoid of any embellishment, save for (you guessed it) a yellow heart on its lateral heel, raised above the rest of the shoe, trimmed in white and stamped with a small Swoosh. From a construction standpoint, this low-cut Dunk uses white leathers both smooth and tumbled, while finishing details are served by an ever-so-faint yellow Swoosh plus yellow Nike Sportswear graphics on the tongue, heel and insole. Of note is that an early leak of the pair last November showed it with much more glossy patent leather on its overlays.

A women’s-sized sneaker that’s likely to drop in an extended size run, the Nike Dunk Low “Yellow Heart” is currently without a release date. However, it’s likely to touch down on or around Valentine’s Day, February 14.
