Here’s How Carhartt WIP & Marni Brought Their Collaboration to Life at Milan Fashion Week
Celebrating the exuberant new collection with full-powered funk.
In what’s been considered the most daring interpretation of Carhartt WIP’s utility style, the new Marni capsule dropped earlier this week. To commemorate the highly anticipated launch, the brand took over the Italian fashion house’s flagship store in Milan for a vibrant celebration of the new collab.
Teased in December last year, the Marni x Carhartt WIP collection debuted with a retro campaign starring iconic bassist and singer Bootsy Collins. Presenting a bold infusion of print and color across Carhartt WIP’s archetypal pieces, the range went on to pique the interest of streetwear fanatics, high-fashion enthusiasts as well as music lovers.
With the collection’s launch coinciding with Milan Fashion Week on Saturday, the label brought the floral-clad garments to fashion week goers in an electric Marni store party. The in-store jam played on the ‘70s-inspired funk themes, inviting the Ohio-based electro-funk Zapp Band to play for attendees.
Bringing the collection into a nostalgically psychedelic environment, the Montenapoleone store was decorated with colorful flowers that mimicked vintage indie wallpapers. On the mirrored podiums, jackets, trousers and shirts were exhibited next to matching sneakers, showing off the complete fits together. In the collection’s tones of yellow and green, sprouting blooms also adorned the glitter suits worn by the band.
The Marni x Carhartt WIP capsule collection is now available to buy online and at both of the brand’s select stores.
