New Balance Signs Shohei Ohtani to a Long-Term Endorsement Deal
To coincide with the announcement, the Boston sportswear imprint has also debuted its limited-edition 574 Cleat.
Having already built up its hoops roster with a handful of bonafide ballers in Kawhi Leonard, Zach LaVine, Jamal Murray and more along with its lifestyle lineup with Jack Harlow, New Balance is looking to expand its representation into the baseball realm. The brand has just announced that Los Angeles Angels‘ show-stopping pitcher Shohei Ohtani has signed a long-term endorsement deal with the brand and will work with them on various campaigns and product launches.
“As I continue my journey in baseball I am excited to join the New Balance family,” says Ohtani. “New Balance is a global brand that is known for having incredible product innovation but also for being an authentic brand who allows their athletes to be themselves. I am excited to join with them to change the game.”
And to coincide with the announcement, the two-time MLB All-Star and 2021 American League MVP and the Boston sportswear brand have debuted the limited-edition New Balance 574 Cleat. This marks the first time that the latter has utilized one of its classic lifestyle silhouettes and modified it for the ballpark. Uppers have been styled with New Balance’s traditional gray and white palette while the bottoms have been equipped with glossy black toe caps and metallic silver cleats to provide style and function on the field. The 574 Cleat will launch in February via New Balance for $120 USD.
