Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ‘The Stellar Odyssey’ Hits Dubai in First Stop of Exhibition Tour
Explore timekeeping through sculpture, film and science.
Upon the debut of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new celestial timepieces last year, the heritage watchmaker revealed a new exploration into the origins of timekeeping with The Stellar Odyssey exhibition. In an effort to share horological history, the brand is now set to take the educational series across the globe, with Dubai as its first stop.
Though the initial launch of the exhibition took place at Watches and Wonders to an audience of industry experts, Jaeger-LeCoultre hopes this time it will attract general gallery-goers with its immersive array of experiences. Located on a floating pavilion above Dubai Fountain, the space will be focused around the walk-through Revealing the Mysteries of Astronomical Timekeeping exhibition and an astronomically-projected geodesic dome.
The pavilion also holds the latest watch models that inspire the new cosmic themed journey at Jaeger-LeCoultre. Showcased against the backdrop of several art installations, the Atmos clock and the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 are posed next to century-old timepieces in an visual evolution of watchmaking at the brand.
CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre Catherine Rénier comments, “It is an important part of our mission at Jaeger-LeCoultre to share the secrets behind the art and craft of watchmaking with the wider world by bringing our manufacture from the Vallée de Joux to the public around the globe.” On its arrival in Dubai, she adds, “The ancient cultures of the Middle East played a seminal role in the origins of time measurement, and we are therefore delighted that Dubai is where the world tour of The Stellar Odyssey makes its debut.”
The Stellar Odyssey exhibition is open to the public from Feb 4-23 with free admission, head to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s website website to find out more.
