Back in May, Kim Jones and Eli Russell Linnetz drew the attention of the fashion cognoscenti with their co-created “California Couture” collection, a Dior x ERL link-up that was one of the foremost segments of the former brand’s Spring 2023 collection. Now, “California Couture” is going global with a special launch at Dover Street Market before its arrival at Dior’s boutiques.

The collection was originally shown in Linnetz’s home of Venice Beach, and its references to free-spirited coastal living — from colors to cuts and materials — are obvious from first glance. In our initial review of the show, Hypebeast noted key pieces like “pastel satin suits, quilted puffer jackets, Christmas-colored tinsel tops and cozy half-zip pullovers,” as well as punchy accessories like mini saddle bags dubbed “Male Minaudiere,” chunky B9S skate sneakers designed by Dior’s Thibo Denis and even pearl-adorned beanies. Jones noted he was influenced by the glamor of Christian Dior’s time in the United States while designing the collection, while Linnetz dove into Dior’s archives to unearth inspiration from 1991 (his birth year).

Interested parties can expect the Dior and ERL “California Couture” offerings to hit Dover Street Market on January 5. As mentioned above, it’ll touch down at Dior boutiques shortly after.

In December Eli Russell Linnetz was named one of the Hypebeast100 cover stars, so check out our interview with him — as well as other notable figures like Shannon Abloh, YOON and Emily Adams Bode — right here.
