44 Label Group FW23 Outfits "Club Kids From a Doomed Future"
With striking prints, thick textiles and utilitarian uniforms.
For Fall/Winter 2023, Max Kobosil’s 44 Label Group crafted a utilitarian and conceptual collection ideal for the avid rave-goer and the streetwear savant alike. Titled “Blame Society,” the range offers an alternative, futuristic wardrobe for the “club kids from a doomed future,” defined by statement-making prints, thick fabrications and functional uniforms.
Kobosil, a former Berghan resident and present-day techno producer, has a longstanding relationship with global nightlife, one strong enough that his clubwear actually feels authentic. In this collection, the designer plays up 44 Label Group’s visual language with notes of post-modern disenchantment — specifically, across washed greyscale denim, texturized rubber and fortuitous canvas.
Pleated combat skirts meet full-body boiler suits, while graphics, including fictional corporate iconography and ironic party patches, poke at contradictions in club culture. Throughout the range, 44 Label Group’s tagline — “(B)RAVE NEW WORLD” — lands on myriad silhouettes.
“These elements emphasize a world-building approach that mixes pop and club cultural references to paint the picture of a not-so-distant future, in which humanity at large has submitted to invasive technologies, ubiquitous social networks and perpetual consumption,” the brand explains in its collection notes.
Additionally, the collection includes a collaboration with DJ luggage label UDG, which includes a strapped headphone case and waist bag.
