Panerai has dropped two new rugged Submersible editions inspired by the Italian special forces.

The Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition and Submersible Forze Speciali use green and camouflage and blue and black color palettes respectively.

Both watches feature 47mm black-DLC coated titanium cases with unidirectional ceramic bezels and hour markers formed from solid blocks of Super-LumiNova.

The chronograph is fairly unconventional in that it records elapsed seconds and minutes using two centrally mounted hands. The bicompax configuration small seconds and chronograph hours sub dials are positioned at the three and nine o’clock positions and take the form of target bull’s eyes.

Restart and Reset are handled by the pusher at the eight o’clock – with Start/Stop at the ten o’clock – while a ‘Time To Target’ countdown is controlled by the pusher at the four o’clock, with repeated pushes needed to set the chronograph hand to the desired position before activating it using the pusher at the 10 o’clock.

The watch is powered by Panerai’s P.9100/R automatic flyback chronograph movement with three day power reserve.

As the name suggests, the 50-piece green and camouflage Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition includes an invitation to ‘join Italian Special Forces troops in a series of exercises’ while the Submersible Forze Speciali will be limited to 300-pieces annually.

Both pieces are available now via Panerai, priced £47,500 GBP ($54,100 USD) and £25,500 GBP ($29,000 USD) respectively.

Elsewhere in watches, Citizen reveals world’s thinnest solar-powered watch.
