ASICS Presents the Eco-Friendly GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95
Emitting only 1.95kg of CO2e, making it the world’s lowest carbon footprint ever in a released sneaker.
Nowadays, brands are more focused than ever on achievable sustainability initiatives that offset the inherent waste generated in the production of consumer goods. As a result, one ongoing race in eco-friendliness with regards to sneakers has been to produce a sneaker with the lowest amount of life cycle CO2e emissions. Recently, adidas and Allbirds teamed up to claim the throne with the Allbirds x adidas ADIZERO 2.94kg CO2e. However, ASICS has announced that it is pushing things even further with its GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95, measuring in at 1.95kg of CO2e emissions, nearly an entire kilogram less than the former leader.
Operating as the result of over 10 years of research and development in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95 takes a significant leap forward in the brand’s efforts to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Key details to accomplish this include a new carbon negative foam, recycled and solution dyed polyester and new structure backed by tape.
The ASICS GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95 is set to be widely available during Fall/Winter 2023 via ASICS. Stay tuned for more release information as the brand prepares for its launch. Take a closer look at the release details and ASICS’ commitment to sustainability in the video above.
