MIDNIGHT STUDIOS Homages Rock and Roll Emotion for SS23
In collaboration with the goth rock band, H.I.M.
Shane Gonzales’ brand MIDNIGHT STUDIOS has always been invested in music since its founding in 2014 and with each collection comes a new layer of elevated wonder. Unveiled during NYFW, the brand’s latest collection for the Spring/Summer 2023 season illustrated the wide-ranging evolution of rock and roll emotion.
In collaboration with goth rock band, H.I.M., the “And Love Said No” collection sees an array of rock-inspired elements on streetwear-focused tailoring. The collection offers up varsity jackets, denim coordinated sets, knitwear, oversized button-down shirts, relaxed pants and more complete with H.I.M.’s signature HEARTAGRAM logo and butterfly graphic designs. Ushering in tailored dress notes are jackets with Pagoda shoulders which are paired with wide-leg pants. Highlights of the collection include a black leather coat, relaxed yet refined suiting and slightly oversized jackets.
“Music is a constant source of inspiration in my design,” said Gonzales. “H.I.M. has always been one of my favorite bands I’ve looked back to time and time again. To be able to work with them on an entirely new level makes this collection really personal and special to me.”
Elsewhere in the collection are more casual garments like sweatpants, hoodies and oversized ponchos complete with rock graphic detailing. Although the collection is dipped in shades of black, white, red, gray and beige, there are subtle pops of highlighter pink. Finishing off the collection is the brand’s signature Boombox bag and silk scarves.
