HBO Max Debuts New Teaser for 'The Idol' Starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp
Featuring appearances from Jennie Kim, Troye Sivan and more.
HBO Max has shared a second teaser for the Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd-starring series, The Idol.
The one-and-a-half-minute visual mostly follows the journey of Depp’s character as she works towards her career goals in the music industry and her meeting of The Weeknd’s character. The synopsis describes the story as one that is “set against the backdrop of the music industry and centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol,” and sees the likes of Jennie Kim, Moses Sumney, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey and Hank Azaria as supporting characters.
The series was created by Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, The Weeknd and Reza Fahim, and was also written by the trio in addition to Joe Epstein. Although a release date is yet to be announced, fans can expect six episodes in it first season.
