Matthieu Blazy is the latest name to take the reigns of Bottega Veneta, and for his debut Fall/Winter 2022 collection for the house, the designer delivered a collection that resided in the label’s fundamentals — leather. From leather denim-effect pants and white ribbed tank tops to leather goods that the brand made its name upon, Blazy’s efforts showed that there was more to the brand than just its former Creative Director’s buzzy bags such as the Cassette, Jodie, and Double Knot. Now, as we gear closer to the release of the FW22 season, Bottega Veneta has debuted one of Blazy’s first bags for the house: the Kalimero.

Seen in various forms and colorways across menswear and womenswear on the aforementioned runway show, the bag comes in a rich “Barolo” red hue, as well as “Cob,” “Bone,” and “Butter.” Each sports the house-signature calfskin leather Intreccio weave, only here it’s padded with a thick interwoven texture. The shoulder strap slides and is stopped with a metal ring, which works in conjunction with tied leather to create a bag that is knotted to keep the bag looped, or unlooped to sling it over your shoulder à la Bottega Veneta’s runway styling.

One distinguishing factor for the bag is its price, which sets it apart from Bottega Veneta’s other “it” bags of the past. For the Kalimero bucket bag, expect to fork out $7,500 USD — prices for the alternative padded Intreccio pieces seen on the runway, like the larger bucket bag or the pochettes, are yet to be released.

Take a look at the Bottega Veneta Kalimero above, and head over to the house’s website to pre-order yours. Shipping commences October 31.
