Alison Brie Reveals “Wheels Are Turning” for ‘Community’ Movie
Adding hope to “six seasons and a movie.”
Alison Brie has shared some hopeful news about the long-awaited Community film.
Speaking on the upcoming episode of WrapWomen’s UnWrapped podcast, the actress revealed that “[t]here’s been movement” in regards to the movie. “There’s been some talks. People are talking and certain things — wheels are turning. I said it!” she said. Brie carefully added, however, that it does not mean that something will come to fruition, “I’m saying there are legitimate conversations that are happening. Whether or not they will ever turn into an actual movie — I would love it if they did, and I hope that they do.” She continued, “But the fact alone that actual real conversations are happening is I think the most progress we’ve ever made on that front.”
Back in June, co-star Joel McHale told ComicBook shared that since “interest has returned” due to streaming during the pandemic, he is more hopeful of something actually happening as compared to a few years ago. “I would say it’s more likely than it was before, definitely, but it’s like building an aircraft carrier,” he said. “You go, ‘We’re gonna do this, right? Yeah, okay, everybody’s here, we got the money.’ Now, this thing has to actually get built. There’s a lot more than just ‘Hey, let’s make a movie now, great.’ It’s a lot of moving parts. So I’m more positive than I was, definitely, but we’ll see. That’s a terrible answer, but definitely better than my answer two years ago.”
Calls for a Community film have been around ever since the impending cancellation of the beloved TV series, with the phrase “six seasons and a movie” transforming from a line quipped by Danny Pudi’s Abed in season two to a rallying cry by fans who believe the show deserved more.
