Earlier this year, adidas Spezial presented its collaboration with Mancunian icon and former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher for their LG2 SPZL. The shoe looked into the archives while tapping into northern culture and celebrating Gallagher’s heritage, music, and cultural influences. Now adidas’ Spezial umbrella is exploring Britain’s electronic music scene with a portrayal of Working Men’s Club — a Yorkshire-based synthpop band — and their lead singer Syd Minsky-Sargeant with a new collection for Summer 2022.

Shot in Minsky-Sargeant’s hometown of Todmorden, England, the collection’s boxy silhouettes and high-riding collars are complemented with deep pockets and durable cotton fabrics that are designed to withstand the test of time.

The footwear selection this season sees the return of the Adilette SPZL; the slide is coated in an off-white hue and includes black Trefoil and Spezial branding. The collection also includes a newly-introduced ZX 620 SPZL that takes inspiration from adidas’ “ZX Series” and nods to the ZX 600 and ZX 555. Its synthetic suede upper includes mesh underlays and sits atop an EVA midsole and rubber outsole. Rounding off the footwear, a revitalized edition of the Warszawa SPZL is included along with a Stapfen SPZL that features rope laces and a brown suede upper with tonal suede overlays in brown.

For the apparel, a new “Calavadella Jacket” is included in a “Peach” colorway along with Portinatx Shorts in a “Sand” hue, branded with an embroidered Mod Trefoil badge. The collection highlight comes in the form of the Marnach TT tracksuit which is a reworked version of adidas’ Beckenbauer silhouette with tonal black details and silicone badges. A selection of lightweight T-shirts and polos round off the apparel, while a graphic patch bucket hat and duffle-styled Parbold II bag come in for the accessories.

You can have a closer look at the adidas Spezial Summer 22 collection above along with the campaign video which explores the early days of the electronic music scene in Britain. The collection will also be available from August 11 on the official adidas website.
