Back for 2022, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants recently presented its list of the lauded eateries for the year. Holding its award ceremony at the Old Billingsgate market in London, the list crowned Copenhagen’s Geranium the world’s best restaurant for 2022. Coming in shortly behind was Central in Lima, Peru and Disfrutar in Barcelona, Spain which respectively took the second and third places.

Maintaining its strong showing, the Asia region saw seven restaurants land on the list. Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2022 included Tokyo’s Den (20th), Hong Kong’s The Chairman (24th), Tokyo’s Florilège (27th), Singapore’s Odette (36th), Bangkok’s Sorn (39th), Osaka’s La Cime (41st), and Tokyo’s Narisawa (45th). Though South America continued to stake its claim on the list with Lima’s Mayta coming in at 32nd and Rio de Janeiro’s Oteques ranking 47th.

Additionally, this year the list introduced its “Beronia World’s Best Sommelier Award 2022,” which went to Josep Roca of El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. One of the three Roca brothers that run the restaurant, it is interesting to note that he and his brothers have managed to help El Celler de Can Roca secure World’s Best Restaurant honors twice.
