Instagram has just announced its new feature “Boost” that allows businesses to boost their Reels into ads to target new audiences.

Boosted reels will appear in feed, Stories, the Reels tab, and the explore tab. Reels must be under 60 seconds to be eligible. In addition, they will have to follow a 9:16 aspect ratio format. Instagram also noted that Reels consisting of third-party intellectual property rights will not be eligible for boosting. Boosted reels cannot contain any copyrighted music, GIFs, camera filters, or interactive stickers.

“Keep boosting your reels to connect with your audience and attract potential new customers,” says a blog post. “Instagram Reels are a fun, entertaining way to tell your brand story and get discovered by new audiences. Reels is our fastest-growing format and an important part of Instagram, as more people watch Reels to be entertained, go deeper with their interests or discover new businesses.”

Reels can be boosted by tapping the “Boost Post” button on their reels. The company suggests checking Insights after boosting to understand its engagement better. Check out Instagram’s step-by-step guide guide to learn more about boosting reels.

Elsewhere in tech, Netflix lost nearly a million subscribers in Q2.
