Burberry Introduces Jared Buckhiester for Second "Friends and Family" Installment for Pre-SS23 Collection
A combination of utility and biker styles with an unapologetic nod to classic Britishness.

Burberry is adding its second installment to its “Friends and Family” creative series that sees the label team up with inspiring creatives from unexpected backgrounds. The first edition came at the beginning of 2022, seeing Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci collaborate with Lea T, and now this time, Tisci and Burberry have tapped Jared Buckhiester – a New York-based contemporary artist – as the collaborator for the Spring/Summer 2023 pre-collection.
The new collection is a celebration of Burberry’s overall regality and cultivated utility, merged with a modern twist on classic Britishness. By including a selection of vibrant workwear-inspired jackets and chain motifs, a selection of airy silk shirts have been included to partner the outerwear as a uniformed layering style with stripes and pleated details in abundance. Burberry’s outerwear line has also been expanded with duffle and car coats with animated equestrian knight designs and tangible pieces such as the newly-introduced leather ties and the biker-inspired trousers and padded jackets.
For the menswear styles, workwear has been revitalized with “Dark Birch Brown” colored canvas along with a newly-introduced shearling oversized coat. Utility styles are also used consistently this time around with a new coat that is designed with black cotton gabardine with exaggerated pockets and appliquéd stripes. One of the stand-out pieces comes in the form of the waxed cotton jacket, partnered with tonal panels and styled with a rib-knit, wool-cashmere jumper. Rounding things off, the new chain motif has been printed on a loop-back cotton hoodie along with new crystals on a cotton-wool track jacket with matching jogging pants.
Womenswear has taken a considered approach towards British femininity with a flowing cashmere wraparound cape with leather trimmings. A black wool-cashmere cardigan has also been introduced along with a sporty blue bomber jacket with a floor-length skirt.
Other shoes and accessories have also been included in the new “Friends and Family” pack with lace-up boots, stiletto heels, point-toe pumps, and workwear hiking boots. A theme of red and black leathers can also be spotted throughout the collection.
