YG Entertainment announced today that BLACKPINK will make its long-awaited comeback this Summer. The group is said to be in the final stages of recording a new album.

The record label stated, “a lot of BLACKPINK-esque music has been prepared over a long period of time. On top of new music and large-scale projects, BLACKPINK will also go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans worldwide.”

BLACKPINK has already received popularity before their debut album ‘THE ALBUM‘ in 2020, with their pre-release “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream” featuring Selena Gomez receiving tremendous hype. Their record-breaking album saw success from fans globally, catapulting to number 2 on both the U.S. Billboard 200 and U.K. Official chart, despite the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Standout track “Lovesick Girls” managed to sell over 1.4 million copies worldwide, making it the first-ever K-pop girl group to sell over a million units.

BLACKPINK will begin their ongoing large-scale project in August, which will extend throughout the year’s second half.

Elsewhere in music, Kid Cudi has announced that A Kid Named Cudi is officially coming to streaming services.
