Y-3 Channels "Memories of Orange" for FW22

For the third chapter of Y-3‘s “20 Years: Re-Coded” narrative, which brought about a debut campaign capturing the legacy of Zinedine Zidane and a second installment centering around the idea of “Transformative Optimism,” adidas and Yohji Yamamoto introduce a Fall/Winter 2022 “Memories of Orange” capsule, revisiting the iconic color of the brand’s logo while continuing to shape its visceral vision of the future. The upcoming collection maintains its central football influences, crafting an athletic range of multi-purpose layering options, bags, and footwear.

Highlight apparel pieces include fleece varsity-style jackets with bright orange leather sleeves and collar flaps, pullovers featuring football crest logos and team sponsor graphics, wide-leg track pants, paneled puffer vests, and a range of different sports tights. Footwear introductions come in the central colors of white, black and orange, incorporating new colorways of the Y-3 Hokori III, the Y-3 Ultraboost 22, the classic Y-3 Qasa High, and a debut take on the adidas Gazelle.

“Featuring a carefully chosen cast of rebellious figures, the models recode sporting movement as an artistic expression through explosively choreographed gestures. Warm lighting, meanwhile, is expressed through a digital backdrop composed of two different shades of orange and a nostalgic pastel blue, which come together to reference a sun at dawn,” writes Y-3 in a press release. “The result – a flood of luminescence that is at once an allusion to Y-3’s emergent beginnings and an ode to the brand’s original color.”

Look for the Y-3 Chapter 3: Memories of Orange collection to release on the adidas Y-3 website and stores as well as select retailers on July 15.

Elsewhere in fashion, Stüssy Eyegear returns with three summer-ready sunglasses.
