After modernizing the ultimate military field watch back in 2021 when the brand was revived, American watchmaker Benrus has now moved on to its next project: a limited-edition reissue of its Type II military dive watch. Designed to weather the toughest of conditions, the new timepiece is a faithful replica of the original dive pieces issued to the armed forces back in the ’70s, albeit with a few convenient updates for more modern functionality.

The rugged 316L steel case comes in at 42.5mm with a sandblasted finish to keep reflections at a minimum, a trait necessary for soldiers at the time to keep their positions concealed. A bi-directional 12-hour bezel in clear black and white then surrounds a highly legible dial in the same contrasting tones, with the usual 24-hour numeral indices marking its surface. Unlike its predecessor, however, the watch now comes protected by a double domed sapphire crystal for better scratch resistance along with a depth rating of 300m. Completing the look is a NATO-styled strap and a Soprod PO24 automatic movement that’ll keep things running for 38 hours when it’s off your cuff.

Limited to just 500 pieces, Benrus’ reissued Type II military dive watch is now available over on the watchmaker’s website for $1495 USD.

Elsewhere in the world of watches, Baltic has now crafted its iconic 41mm Aquascaphe in titanium.
