Bringing snow to Paris Fashion Week.

For its Spring/Summer 2023 presentation at Paris Fashion Week, LVMH-Prize-winning label doublet decided to make it snow to help convey the message of its collection. Inspired by a memory of falling faux snow in Singapore, designer Masayuki Ino developed what he calls “impossible clothes and improbable fashion” for the season.

Dubbed “IF YOU WANT IT,” the SS23 collection from doublet explored a matured sense of playfulness, building on the lighthearted nature of the Japanese label.

Leading the runway presentation marked by falling faux snow in the middle of the summer were looks centered around jackets and sweaters that made models look headless. Obscuring the face and altering the length of the torso with shoulder pads, Ino gave a new definition to exaggeration in fashion. Further displays of this stretching outlook comes in the form of lengthened pant hems and extended sleeves on denim sets.

While distressing, commonly found on denim, was applied to generous tailoring, and further weathering was applied on pieces like a rusted rider jacket and pieces that simply broke down into shreds of thread. Aside from bold popcorn tops and bottoms were a variety of graphic print pieces that brought a new trick-eye element.

Rounding up the collection were literally-furry classic canvas footwear models and a take on the classic slip-on with individually split toes.

Take a look at the doublet’s SS23 “IF YOU WANT IT” collection above and watch the presentation below.

For more contemporary fashion, UNDERCOVER is expansive as ever for SS23.
