Sneaker Politics Connects With ASICS for a GEL-LYTE III "Always Ready" Collaboration
Devoted to the U.S. Army and all service members.
Sneaker Politics has a penchant for producing footwear collaborations with various sportswear imprints, but its next project just might be one of its most meaningful. Derek Curry — the founder and CEO of the boutique — is a former member of the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq for nine grueling months, and this newest Sneaker Politics x ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Always Ready” collaboration is made to honor this chapter of his life as well as the U.S. Army and all service members.
An army-friendly green takes shape on a majority of the kicks and comes accented with ASICS side logos that are dipped in black. A bevy of military-inspired details also come through across the upper. Name badge-esque hits on the lateral heels that split between “Politics” on the left shoe and “GEL-LYTE III” on the right, and the toe boxes feature small cut-outs that reveal stars and stripes from the American flag. In addition, you’ll find aerial maps on the inserts with the words “Thank You” stacked above an ASICS hit.
These will be dropping via Politics locations on May 28, and a portion of the profits will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Lone Survivor Foundation, two non-profit organizations that assist veterans and active-duty service members. Additionally, an activation will be hosted at the Sneaker Politics Dallas store on release day where veterans and active-duty military can purchase the kicks on a first come first served bases with a valid military ID.
