Legendary Brooklyn pioneer Karl Kani knows a lot about fashion, passing trends and what’s deemed a classic. His iconic “KANI VARSITY” jacket lands in that classic category and will be re-released this season in an exclusive 100-piece limited edition run.

Kani – who got his start in the ‘90s – has outfitted a plethora of superstar talent since stepping into the design game, from 2Pac to Nas, Aaliyah, Rihanna, Migos and more. And the most sought-after item from his brand has continued to be the “KV” jacket. The leather-crafted item features ornate patchwork detailing with a white leather collar, contrasting black leather front panel, red leather sleeves and white leather cuffs.

As well, collegiate and pro-sports-styled patches appear throughout the jacket’s design, with emblems such as “KKJ23” and “KANI VARSITY.” Whereas the back of the jacket’s black leather sheath contains an enlarged panther-basketball decal with a “KANI 323 SPORT” logo affixed to it.

Speaking about his design legacy and the reissue of the varsity jacket, Kani says: “This is a declaration of love to Brooklyn, for all those kids on the street hustling. For the ‘Kings and Queens’ who built the empire of hip-hop representing the whole culture – a statement – welcome to the club.’’

The “KANI VARSITY” jacket will be available for sale on a super-limited run starting June 2 via the brand’s website, and also in Europe on the Zalando Plus app.

In case you missed it, campaign imagery for the Louis Vuitton x NBA collab was released to celebrate its third drop this season.
