Panerai is better known for its maritime watches than complications, but nevertheless the brand dropped its first perpetual calendar late last year inside a platinum Luminor with GMT function.

Then at Watches & Wonders it quietly dropped a flashier limited edition update in Panerai’s Goldtech alloy of 75% gold and platinum and smoked sapphire crystal, with each customer being invited to a Panerai experience in Florence, Italy.

The 44mm Luminor GoldtechTM Calendario Perpetuo is limited to just 33 pieces and its automatic P.4100 movement allows adjustment of day, date, month and year through the crown, even during the usual trouble zones at month’s end and near midnight.

The sub dial at the nine o’clock functions as both AM/PM indicator for the GMT and small seconds, while a 22K micro-rotor serves to keep the twin barrels wound.

The smoked sapphire crystal dial reveals the day and date discs while year, leap year and power reserve are visible through the caseback crystal.

The Panerai experience will see buyers immersed in the brand’s origins through an event in Florence taking in Italian cuisine, culture and history. Buyers will also receive an exclusive NFT created for the occasion and uniquely tailored to each traveler’s itinerary. Panerai states that each NFT will also “unlock benefits on a rolling basis long after the experience ends.”

The Luminor GoldtechTM Calendario Perpetuo is available now via Panerai, priced $83,700 USD.
