Daniel Fletcher‘s Fiorucci continues to take us away to a hedonistic ’70s paradise with the Spring/Summer 2022 collection “Desert Oasis,” which has just launched at Fred Segal by the way of a pop-up. Celebrating the start of Coachella and festival season more generally, the iconic L.A. store’s pop-up space has been taken over by Fiorucci, injecting an air of nostalgia to the shop.

Speaking on the collection and pop-up, Fletcher said: “When I was looking through the Fiorucci archive researching for the SS22 collection I found a beautiful hand-painted sign which simply read: Love Earth & Nature. The archive is full of artworks dedicated to the planet, reflecting Elio’s passion for protecting it. It’s been something that has inspired me since my appointment at the brand and has always been at the forefront of my mind. Right now, that message feels more important than ever, and this season that connection is rooted in the Californian desert where we came together to shoot the campaign. I wanted to take a trip through Fiorucci’s hedonistic past with a collection inspired by its 1970s beginnings, which can be seen in the archive palm prints and sexier silhouettes reflecting the party spirit of the brand, but all still rooted in its connection to the earth. There’s a long history between Fiorucci and LA and I’m really glad to be able to celebrate that with the opening of our Fred Segal pop-up and for the original Angels brand to be back in the City Of Angels.”

As for the collection itself, you’ll find an array of silk shirts sporting retro graphics mostly informed by hazy landscapes, palm trees, and Fiorucci’s own glamor, while crochet knits get a reworking inspired by The Instant City in 1970’s Ibiza. Baseball caps and bucket hats dress down the luxe silk garments, while bags adorned with Fiorucci’s sun dial come into the situation to sophisticate things once more.

Take a look at the campaign above and check out the pop-up at Fred Segal until April 30.
